Electrical Engineer - Plant & Utilities Maintenance Job Description
Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer for Plant & Utilities Maintenance is responsible for ensuring the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of all mechanical systems and utility equipment within the facility. This role involves developing and implementing maintenance strategies, troubleshooting complex issues, managing repairs, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Management:Follow & Implement preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) programs and schedules for all plant equipment and utility systems to minimize downtime.
- Machine Maintenance:- CNC Punching & Shearing machines, Projection Welding machines, Multiple Daylight Automatic Hot Presses, Power Presses & CNC press machines, Automatic Powder & Paint Coating Lines, Knowledge of PLC, HMI, Servo Motors, Servo Drives, Electrical Troubleshooting
- Utility Systems Oversight: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical utility systems, including HVAC, compressed air systems, water treatment ( STP), fire Hydrant & Alarm systems, and pumps/piping networks.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex Electrical issues and equipment failures promptly to ensure continuous production flow.
- Project Management: Co-ordinate with management for timelines of the installation, commissioning, and validation equipment and systems, including capital projects and plant modifications and accomplish on ground level with internal & external teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in system efficiency, reliability, and energy management, leading or assisting in the design and implementation of improvement projects.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities and mechanical systems adhere to stringent health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO, GMP where applicable).
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, technical documentation, schematics, and Electrical & Instrumentation Diagrams. Prepare regular reports on equipment performance, costs, and compliance metrics.
- Vendor and Team Coordination: Liaise with production teams, internal procurement team, and vendors to procure necessary spare parts, co-ordinate with service vendors, and ensure seamless project execution.
- Training: Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians and operations personnel on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (e.g., Industrial Engineering).
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role in plant& utilities maintenance.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment (PLC, HMI, Servo Motors, Servo Drives, Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems, Pumps, Motors, Gearboxes, Compressors).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience in MS office.
- Knowledge of PLC, HMIProgramming, SAP MM module is a plus.
